# Choose the questions you track

Measure the questions a buyer asks before choosing a brand.

Discovery questions ask about a category, a need or a choice without giving the AI tool your brand’s name. Knowledge questions already name the brand. The measurement treats those two groups separately.

## Discovery and knowledge

“Which tools help an ecommerce team track AI product recommendations?” is a discovery question. “What does Praised do?” is a branded knowledge question. These are examples of the distinction, not measured questions.

## Keep the comparison meaningful

The measurement records the configuration behind a reading. Changes to the tracked questions, engines or other measurement settings can make a before-and-after comparison unavailable.

Each distinct question is the sampling unit. Collecting more answers to one wording does not replace adding relevant, distinct buyer questions.
