Free tools · Query fan-out generator
One question, many retrieval queries.
Query fan-out is how an AI engine turns one question into several searches. The generator models those searches for any buying question and marks which ones your pages answer.
Modelled, not measured: no line here is a query an engine was recorded issuing.

From suggestions to work
Sort the gaps into a page outline and a research brief.
Fan out one buying question into the lines an engine would research, and mark the ones your site already answers. Gaps a product page can answer become new H2s. Questions about the whole category go to the buying guide. Lines that forums and review sites win go into a research brief, to check against observed data before anyone writes.

Why each line is there
Each line is labelled with its axis.
Each line is grouped by the buyer need behind it, such as price, comparison or fit. Read down a group to find the questions your pages leave unanswered. Which groups appear depends on the shape of your question.
-
Before anything can be ranked or compared, an engine settles what the subject means.
what is a 3-layer rain jacketwhat does a waterproof rating mean -
A recommendation needs candidates. The engine assembles a set, then picks from the set.
top rain jackets for hiking 2026best rain jackets under $200 -
With candidates in hand, the engine looks for pages that compare them directly.
Summit Shell vs Storm ProKestrel vs Alpenway rain jacket -
Price is the most common unasked follow-up, fetched whether or not the question mentions price.
Summit Shell pricecheapest waterproof hiking jacket -
The qualifier in the question becomes a query of its own, which is where a narrow page can win a broad answer.
packable rain jacket for backpackingrain jacket for day hikes
-
Named attributes are the raw material the answer’s bullet points get built from.
lightest rain jacket for hikingbreathable rain jacket pit zips -
Engines look for the downside on purpose; a page that never names a downside rarely gets quoted on one.
rain jacket wets outSummit Shell fit runs small -
Forums and review sites are retrieved heavily. They shape the answer even when they are not the page cited.
best rain jacket redditrain jacket rain test -
A recommendation is usually followed by an implementation query from the same session.
how to reproof a rain jackethow to layer under a rain shell -
Adding the year forces fresh sources, and last year’s page can lose the slot on that alone.

Modelled and measured are not the same thing
Compare suggested searches with the searches AI engines report.
Scroll, or drag the divide. The free tool models what an engine would plausibly ask for “best women’s waterproof hiking boots”; the platform records the searches engines actually reported making near the same phrase, and which of them your pages rank for.

| This free tool | Measured fan-out in Praised | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the queries come from | A published rule set applied to your wording | The retrieval queries the engine itself reported issuing |
| What it proves | Nothing on its own: a hypothesis you can check | That those queries were issued on that run |
| Coverage | Every question, instantly | Only engines that publish their queries; the rest are reported as not reported, never as “no fan-out” |
| Cost | Free, unlimited, no account | A measured run |
Take the gaps into research or a brief.
Check the modelled lines against what engines really search, then write the page with the evidence behind each section.

The step where a generative engine turns one user question into several retrieval queries, runs them, and writes its answer from what comes back. A single question creates a retrieval surface of a dozen or more queries, and a page can be pulled into the answer by winning any one of them.
No. This tool is a model, not a capture. The generator applies a published set of rules to the words in your question and shows which rule produced each line. Fan-out that was really issued can only come from the engines that publish their retrieval queries, which is what Praised reports per run, including which engines did not report at all.
The count varies by engine, by question and by run, and no fixed number holds. This tool caps its model at 24 to keep the output readable, which is a choice about the page, not a claim about any engine.
Yes. Copy every sub-query in one go, or get a share link to the result.
Watch which sub-queries engines really issue.
The platform reports the retrieval queries engines publish for your own prompts, and says which engines did not report.
