Praised vs Profound: which fits your team?

Profound is the enterprise platform: more engines on its top plan, conversation-volume data, SOC 2 and a sales-led motion. Praised is the $99 self-serve platform built around statistical honesty — confidence intervals on every number, and a fix loop that closes on evidence. We make Praised, so every Profound fact here is sourced from their public pages and dated August 2026 — and we say plainly where they win.

Key takeaways
  • Choose Profound if you're an enterprise team that needs procurement-grade compliance, agency-scale rollouts, Copilot/DeepSeek coverage, or its prompt-volume data — demand-side numbers Praised doesn't sell.
  • Choose Praised if you want statistical rigor at an SMB price: 95% confidence intervals on every number, ties marked, a public methodology, and a fix queue that closes only on a passing re-check.
  • Both list a $99 entry as of August 2026 — but Profound's is billed yearly and covers ChatGPT only with 50 prompts, while Praised's is monthly and asks its 50 questions on any two of its six surfaces.
  • Test before deciding: Praised has a free page checker today and a free plan at launch (12 tracked questions, asked daily for a week); Profound shows a free trial on its Growth tier.

This is a vendor-written comparison — we're one of the two vendors. So the rules here are strict: every Profound fact comes from Profound's own public pages, checked August 2026, and linked in the sources. Where we couldn't verify something, we say "we couldn't find it documented" rather than "they don't have it". Read why us for our general case; this post is the specific one.

Who each is for

Profound is built for enterprise brands and the agencies that serve them. Its public positioning and customer motion are enterprise-shaped: SOC 2 compliance, SSO/SAML, dedicated Slack support, multi-company tracking, and a top tier that covers up to nine answer engines.1 Beyond visibility tracking it sells prompt-volume data (what people actually ask AI tools like ChatGPT), agent analytics that watch AI crawlers hit your site, a shopping-visibility product and autonomous "Agents" for marketing tasks.2

Praised is built for the team below that: SMB and mid-market marketers, founders and growth leads who need the number and the fix, and who will be asked to defend both in a meeting. The product is measurement plus a loop — mention rate, recommendation rate, share of voice, sentiment and accuracy across six surfaces, then a fix queue, content production with GEO lint, corrections and experiments. The bet is that what mid-market buyers lack isn't more dashboards — it's numbers they can trust and a next action they can take.

The pricing reality

Both companies now publish numbers, which makes this section easier than it would have been a year ago. As of August 2026:

  • Profound: Starter $99/month billed yearly — ChatGPT tracking only, 50 prompts. Growth $399/month billed yearly — 3 answer engines, 100 prompts. Enterprise: custom pricing via sales.1
  • Praised: Free at launch — 12 tracked questions; waitlist today. Pro $99/month on monthly billing — 50 tracked questions on 2 engines, the fix queue and Content Studio. Scale $399/month — 150 questions on 3 engines, 100 products. Agency $599/month — 150 questions pooled across client workspaces. Paid yearly, every plan is ten months' price for twelve. Full details on pricing.

The two $99s are not the same product. Profound's Starter buys one engine and a fixed 50 prompts, billed annually. Praised's Pro is month-to-month and buys 50 tracked questions you can point at any two of the six engines — each costs the same whatever answers it, and each is asked at least every two days without you starting anything. Which is better depends entirely on whether you want one engine deeply or several engines flexibly.

💡

A fair test is cheap. Write down 20 buyer prompts, run them through Praised when your invite arrives, and take Profound's trial in the same week. Compare not just the rates but what each tool tells you to do next — that's where the products actually differ.

When Profound is the better choice

Genuinely, and without a wink:

  • You're an enterprise brand. If procurement needs SOC 2 and SSO/SAML, and you want a vendor whose support model includes a dedicated Slack channel, Profound built for you and we didn't.1
  • You're an agency running many large clients. Profound's agency motion and multi-company tracking are part of the core enterprise offer.1
  • You want demand-side data. Prompt volumes — what millions of people ask AI tools — is a real dataset we don't have. If choosing which categories to fight for matters more than measuring your standing in them, that data is the point.2
  • You need Copilot or DeepSeek coverage. Profound lists both; Praised doesn't measure either today.2
  • You want the category's biggest name. There's real value in the vendor most of your peers already use — shared benchmarks, familiar reports, easier internal sign-off.

When Praised is the better choice

  • Your numbers will be challenged. AI answers are stochastic — the same prompt gives different answers run to run. Every Praised headline rate ships with a 95% confidence interval, overlapping ranks are marked as ties, and every result is labelled live, modeled or estimated. When someone senior asks whether the movement is real, you have an answer better than "the dashboard says so".
  • You want flexibility at the entry price. $99 on Praised tracks 50 questions on any two of six surfaces; $99 on Profound is ChatGPT only.1 No engine here is plan-locked — a new engine changes no price and no plan.
  • You want the loop, not just the score. Findings become a fix queue that closes only when a re-check passes. Wrong facts on pages you don't own get drafted correction requests. Experiments report attributed lift — and null results say so. Trackers tell you the score; the loop is what moves it.
  • You want to audit the method before paying. Our methodology is public, limitations section included. Hold us to it — and hold Profound to the same bar in your evaluation call.
  • You want spend you can predict. The plan is the ceiling: when every question slot is used the console refuses a new one rather than billing on, and a question costs the same whatever answers it.
The cheap way to decide

The honest verdict

This isn't a David-and-Goliath story where the small tool secretly wins everything. Profound is a strong enterprise product with data assets we don't have. If you're a large brand with an enterprise budget and a procurement process, it's probably your shortlist favorite — and reasonably so.

If you're the growth lead or founder actually reading vendor blogs to decide, the calculus flips: you likely need defensible numbers, a concrete next action, and a price that doesn't require a committee. That's the buyer we built for. And if you're still mapping the category, start wider: our roundup of the best GEO tools in 2026 covers nine options, Profound alternatives goes deeper on this segment, and Praised vs Otterly covers the budget end. However you choose, run the loop the tools exist for: read your category's answers, publish the comparison pages engines actually quote, and re-measure.

Frequently asked questions

As of August 2026, Profound publishes two self-serve tiers: Starter at $99/month billed yearly (ChatGPT tracking only, 50 prompts) and Growth at $399/month billed yearly (3 answer engines, 100 prompts).1 The full platform — up to 9 engines, SSO/SAML, SOC 2 — is enterprise-priced via sales, with no published number.

Partly. Praised's free checker works today with no account, and a free plan of 12 tracked questions, asked daily for a week, opens at launch. Profound's pricing page shows a free trial on its Growth tier (checked August 2026).1 Running both on the same week of real buyer prompts is the fairest test either vendor could ask for.

No. Profound lists eight platforms including Microsoft Copilot and DeepSeek, with up to nine on Enterprise.2 Praised measures six surfaces — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Grok — and doesn't measure Copilot or DeepSeek. The difference is access: none of our six is locked to a plan; the question allowance is the only limit, on every tier.
